Researcher Electrolysis
Production Electrolysis

HyLab’s final goal is to create a worldwide reference Research, Development and Innovation (R&D+I) cluster with a strategic agenda focused on strengthening hydrogen competitiveness and creation of new products and services. Moreover, the HyLab will foster innovation, addressing the relevant supply chain components to enable a hydrogen-driven economy and to promote skilled and value-added job creation.
It targets a gap between the academia and industrial ecosystems in the implementation of green hydrogen to boost the energy transition and to tackle the energy transition challenges, through the entire hydrogen value chain.
The HyLab involves valuable national and international R&D institutes, academia, industry companies, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), start-ups, and hydrogen-related technology manufacturing industries.
We are looking for a Researcher Electrolysis who will report to the Lead Research on Electrolysis Technologies and will have the mission to Develop applied research and innovation activities in Electrochemistry, namely on water electrolysis for green hydrogen production.
You will be challenged with:

  • Designing and validating protocols for testing electrochemical systems, focusing on electrolyser components and electrolyser technology development, ranging from basic elements to cells and stacks.
  • Collaborating on R&D projects, particularly those aligned with the Mobilizing Agendas of the Recovery and Resilience Plan, with a specific emphasis on water electrolysis and testing commercial equipment.
  • Cooperating with project partners to ensure the delivery of technical work and the preparation of related project reports.
  • Providing specialized services to industry customers and partners.
  • Participating in activities to disseminate scientific knowledge, including writing scientific articles, conference papers, and communications.
Who are we looking for:
  • Minimum master’s degree in chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in electrochemistry, with a focus on water electrolysis being advantageous.
  • Experience working with interfacial electrochemistry experimentally, particularly in material characterization (proficiency in current techniques; experience with corrosion tests is advantageous).
  • Strong programming skills in COMSOL Multiphysics, Python, or MATLAB are advantageous.
  • Proficiency level in English C1.
Why join us:
  • You will be challenged with unusual problems and will have the opportunity to uncover solutions with a high environmental impact.
  • You will be working in an innovation environment, together with some of the most knowledgeable researchers in Europe.
  • You will have a career as a Researcher in one of the most promising technologies in the energy industry.
  • You will have the opportunity to definitively move to Sines, Portugal, or to work there at least for 3 days per week on the brand new HyLab headquarters.
  • Your talent will be rewarded with a competitive salary package.
