HyLab’s final goal is to create a worldwide reference Research, Development and Innovation (R&D+I) cluster with a strategic agenda focused on strengthening hydrogen competitiveness and creation of new products and services. Moreover, the HyLab will foster innovation, addressing the relevant supply chain components to enable a hydrogen-driven economy and to promote skilled and value-added job creation.
It targets a gap between the academia and industrial ecosystems in the implementation of green hydrogen to boost the energy transition and to tackle the energy transition challenges, through the entire hydrogen value chain.
The HyLab involves valuable national and international R&D institutes, academia, industry companies, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), start-ups, and hydrogen-related technology manufacturing industries.
We are looking for a Researcher Risk Assessment who will report to the Lead Research on Risk and will have the mission to Development of applied research and innovation activities in Safety and Risk Assessment of Hydrogen, with the aim of defining the best practices for the safe use of hydrogen throughout the value chain.
You will be challenged with:

  • Development and implementation of quantitive and qualitative risk assessment methodologies for Hydrogen use, transport, storage and production;
  • Collaboration in R&D projects, namely on Mobilizing Agendas of the Recovery and Resilience Plan, in the area of Risk Assessment and Safety;
  • Cooperation with project partners to ensure the delivery of the technical work and the preparation of related project reports;
  • Provision of specialized services to industry;
  • Participation in activities to disseminate the scientific knowledge produced (writing scientific articles, conference papers, presentations).
Who are we looking for:
  • Master’s degree in engineering, preferably in Chemical, Environmental, Mechanical, Process Safety, or a related field.
  • Experience with qualitative and quantitative risk assessment techniques for industrial applications (e.g., chemical, petrochemical), including Hazard and Operability Study (HAZOP), Preliminary Risk Analysis, and Quantitative Risk Analysis.
  • Proficiency in Phast/Safeti software.
  • Experience in industrial safety projects is preferred.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, C++, MATLAB are advantageous.
  • Proficiency level in English C1.
